CHURCH FUNDING
Some people are mistakenly under
the impression that our church is wholly subsidised by The Church
of England. This is not true!
In fact, we actually make a contribution
- called our Parish Share - to the Diocese of Lichfield. This
goes towards paying the clergy stipends, as well as other central
shared costs.
The expense of all church maintenance,
heating, lighting, etc., has to be raised within the Parish. Insurance
is a particularly large item.
At the moment, we are just surviving
on a hand to mouth basis. Any large, unforeseen expense, such
as major repairs, would find us seriously financially embarrassed.
We are very grateful to those
who do contribute, but unfortunately the funding burden is currently
borne by too few people. I am, therefore, appealing to anybody
who would like to help us. You dont even have to be a churchgoer.
Some people use a weekly envelope,
which can be placed in the collection plate or handed to a churchgoer.
Others simply give a donation, and this can be given to myself
or one of the clergy. Contributions can now be given by Gift Aid.
This scheme is now replacing Covenants, and can be used for one-off
or regular donations, and means that the Inland Revenue returns
to us 28 pence for every £1 you give if you are a taxpayer.
If anyone would like to help
our church in this way, please do get in touch with me. I can
assure complete confidentially.
